DynaKon FAQ
Quick answers about how DynaKon works.
What does DynaKon do?
It listens to the audio playing in your browser and automatically adjusts the EQ and volume so tracks sound balanced and consistently loud. It runs on its own once something is playing.
Do I have to turn it on every time?
No. DynaKon starts by itself when a page plays audio. The toolbar icon shows ON while it is working.
What do Not Tuned, Listening and Tuned mean?
Not Tuned: DynaKon is not tuning this tab right now (click it to start or look again). Listening: it is analyzing the track. Tuned: it has finished analyzing and is tuning the sound.
What does the ON badge mean?
The toolbar icon shows ON whenever DynaKon is tuning the tab you are on, whether it is reading the site's player directly or tuning the tab's sound.
The icon shows an orange "!"
The tab is making sound but DynaKon is not tuning it yet. Click the DynaKon icon, then click Not Tuned. If the site's audio is protected, DynaKon starts tuning the tab's sound. If it isn't, DynaKon simply looks for the site's player again.
How do I use DynaKon with Spotify, Apple Music and similar sites?
These sites don't let extensions read their audio directly, so DynaKon tunes the tab's sound instead. When it detects this, it says This site's audio is protected. Play something and open the DynaKon popup: tuning starts on its own, or click Not Tuned if it doesn't. The icon shows ON once it is working.
Chrome only allows this right after you click the icon, so it needs one click per tab. It keeps running between songs, and stops by itself when you go to a different site. Everything else (YouTube and most sites) is tuned automatically with no click.
Does DynaKon get around copy protection?
No. It never reads or copies protected files. It only adjusts the sound that is already coming out of your speakers.
Does DynaKon record or upload my audio?
No. All processing happens on your device. See the Privacy Policy.
Something sounds wrong. What can I do?
Use Hold for original in the popup to hear the untouched audio, or switch the DynaKon toggle off. Choose Subtle strength for a lighter touch.
